NEWS
APRIL 2026

Another sign of the bad times we live in todays world

Classic Amplification will no longer be able to supply Bass/Neck
pickups with the open style chrome covers as shown below:

Unfortunately the company that supplies these covers cannot sell in
small quantities any more (ie; less than 300pcs) in 2026

Therefore because I'm in my retirement years now and will not likely
make 300 more pickups before my time is done, I can only offer
my sincere appologies to our disapointed clients.       -Brad Burt

Classic Rick Bass/Neck
for 4001 & 4003 bass
RB4X-NK

Neck/Bass pickup

Starting in April 2026 this open style
chrome cover is no longer available
to Classic Amplification

If you want me to build you an RB4X-NK open-cover
pickup, you would need to send me your original RIC
bass/neck pickup cover, I can install my core into it.

Alternative option for Bass/Neck pickup:
I can make you an RB4X-NK with this style chrome cover
it looks like a toaster but is built internally the same
and sounds the same as my RB4X-NK open cover pickup.

About Classic RickTM Pickups
for Rickenbacker® Bass

Our Classic RickTM replacement bass pickups deliver the unique tone of vintage Rickenbacker® bass pickups, we build ours to get that vintage tone but also solving two major problems inherent in vintage OEM pickups like the balance between 1st/4th strings -vs- 2nd/3rd strings and have acheived string balance with no need for adjustable poles, and the age-old lame output problem with vintage (OEM) pickups. We use much better magnet grade than the weak OEM magnet (aka; refrigerator magnets), individual magnets for each pole allowing for much better string balance and tone articulation, rather than the OEM approach of over-winding (and consequently changing the tone) the pickup trying to increase output. We use a much better (lead) cable connection method replacing that old funky bare lead ends and solder joints (ie; hum antennas) of the OEM style wiring under the pickups, we use an assembly technique where the signal wires run fully shielded all the way to the pickup coil for the lowest possible stray hum/noise as can be seen in the picture above.

Scatter-wound with #44 wire on hand made FR4 bobbin cores, made in-house, standard vintage replacement wind for Classic RickTM Treble/Bridge is 8.2K -to- 8.6K DCR*, standard vintage replacement wind for Classic RickTM Bass/Neck is 7.6K - 8K DCR*.

*With #44 wire the DCR can vary this much depending on the current room temperature
we wind by turns-count which makes the pickup output and sound consistant.

With our pickups installed in your Rickenbacker® you can finaly keep up with modern instruments while retaining that classic tone, and for your modern Rickenbacker® bass you can finally get that vintage tone you likely bought it for, but found lacking!.
